Marlow is eating solids now and we introduce a new food about once a week. She still doesn’t like texture, so smoothies are a good way to add new consistencies. When my Mom was visiting, she made a morning smoothie and I’ve since been making it for Marlow and me. I make a base and pour out a portion for Marlow before adding some more things to mine like chia seed, greek yogurt, and sometimes protein powder or peanut butter.
1/2 cup dry oats (I used GF oats from Trader Joe’s)
1/3 cup coconut water
1/2 cup almond milk
1 banana, frozen
1/2 cup frozen berries
1 tablespoon chia seeds
1 cup spinach, kale, or powergreens
1/2 cup greek yogurt
Blend oats, coconut water, almond milk, banana, berries, avocado, and greens in a blender. Pour out 1/3 mixture and set aside (baby’s portion).
Add chia seeds and greek yogurt, blend until smooth (your portion). Add more coconut water or almond milk to desired consistency.
